Desaturation of Signs

The strongest technical aspect of my work is the prominence of the yellow sign against the destruction of the tree that the signs are posted on. Without the color of the yellow in the sign, the picture wouldn't have a focal point. The technical aspect of my work that can be improved on is the coloring on the edges of the signs. On a few corners of the signs, there are some desaturated areas rather than colored and I feel I can improve on this by working more on coloring in the lines only using the trackpad on the laptop.
Desaturating this art activity was the easiest aspect because all I had to do was choose the picture, take a screenshot, and then click the desaturate button and voila! the picture had been turned form colorful to black and white. The most difficult aspect of this art activity was actually trying to figure out which button to click on photoshop to make the art history brush work. At first, I couldn't figure out which button it was and when I had thought I had been hitting the right button, it wasn't working. Eventually, I had figured out what I had been doing wrong and was able to complete the assignment with the right brush.
I demonstrated the objective in this art activity because I had to desaturate the entire picture and create a focal point by using the art history brush and that is exactly why I had done making the signs the focal point. If I could do this art activity again, I would try to create a different focal point that would be less obvious. For example, if I were to use this image again for this assignment, I may try to make the trees in the background the focal point rather than the obvious focal point of the signs posted on the tree.

  1. Mariah, Did they have to make the 'history brush' and the 'art history brush' look so similar??? We've all made that mistake. I like the contrast of the yellow sign up against the desaturated tree. It's a strong focal point.
